I’ve thought about this and wanted to build this (no really) but couldn’t find the frickin’ time. Anway, somebody else did it nice. Upload a picture and it spits out a color palette. This is good. Real good.

This was one of Joshua Davis’s early tricks in coming up with his color palettes and tables for praystation designs. He did it manually though by saving his images as a parred down.gif’s (7 -10 primary colors) then importing them into Flash’s swatch palette which accepts . gif’s along with the .act format.
Either way, its a very effective technique.
This is useful for coming up with a website color palette that matches a key image that a client can work with.
I have generated a few color palettes and the results are pretty good.
